Sabal Trail Transmission Project Receives FERC Certificate


LAKE MARY, Fla. – Sabal Trail Transmission, LLC, a joint venture of Spectra Energy Partners, LP (NYSE: SEP), NextEra Energy, Inc., and Duke Energy, received a certificate of public convenience and necessity from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to construct and operate the Sabal Trail interstate natural gas pipeline project. This approval authorizes Sabal Trail, subject to certain conditions, to proceed with final preparations to commence construction in the coming months to meet a May 1, 2017, in-service date.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Duke Energy, the nation’s largest electric utility, today said it has bought a 7.5-percent ownership stake in the proposed and previously announced $3-billion Sabal Trail natural gas pipeline that will traverse Alabama, Georgia and Florida to meet the growing need for natural gas in those states.

PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Berg Pipe, with facilities in Mobile, Ala., and Panama City, Fla., has been awarded a contract to build 625 miles, or 346,000 tons, of pipe for a new natural gas pipeline in the United States. The pipes will be used by Sabal Trail Transmission and Florida Southeast Connection natural gas pipeline projects to move natural gas in the Southeast. Berg was awarded the contract after a competitive bid process.
